Das Brezel Haus | Spotlight Series

Das Brezel Haus in Downtown Brampton wants to redefine what you know about pretzels. Dirk opened the shop with his wife Yvette to share their wide assortment of treats with their community. They offer the classic salted and unsalted pretzel as well as some unique options you won’t find everywhere such as their Philadelphia style pretzel, Boston dipped pretzel, birthday pretzel and celebration pretzel, “we have pretzels for every occasion!” Their authentic German recipes and tantalizing flavours make this a spot that shouldn’t be missed.

Opening in early 2018, Das Brezel Haus is now busy every day with regulars coming in for their morning coffee and snack. Others try and take on the ghost pepper pretzel challenge to earn their place in Pretzel history with a photo on the shop’s wall. But getting a new foodservice business going isn’t always as easy as it is tasty, “starting up a new business today requires a lot of money.” To make money, Dirk and his family have to make a lot of pretzels and to do that you need the right equipment. Through Econolease Das Brezel Haus leased almost all of the tools needed to make their mouth-watering pretzel. Their freezers, fridges, Italian mixing machine, proofing cabinet and oven were all financed through Econolease, “If it wasn’t for Econolease I don’t think we would be able to be in the situation we’re in now. Being able to write our taxes off at the end of the year is a huge help.”

In the early days, there are always speed bumps, “We called three times late at night because we had some concern and Ariel[their Econolease representative] was there. She got right back to us, it was just a matter of minutes before she returned a phone call.” We’re here to help beyond just the financing because your dreams matter to us. “ I must say without Econolease none of this would be possible.”
